Privacy Policy

Bureau St. James is the consultancy practice of James Andrew Smith. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data when you visit bureaustjames.com.

What we collect

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, company, role, and any message you provide. When you use the console (chat), the text you enter is sent to our AI provider for processing. The site uses Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate traffic patterns; no advertising or third-party marketing scripts are deployed.

How we use it

Contact form submissions are used solely to respond to your enquiry and, where appropriate, to begin a professional engagement. Console messages are processed by Anthropic (Claude) to generate responses. Anthropic's data handling practices are described at anthropic.com/privacy. Google Analytics 4 records aggregate, pseudonymous traffic data (pages viewed, referrers, approximate location, device class) to help us understand how the site is used. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies

This site uses Google Analytics 4 cookies to measure aggregate traffic. No advertising or third-party marketing cookies are deployed. Analytics cookies are first-party and contain no directly identifying information.

Data storage and security

The site is hosted on Vercel (edge network, with European points of presence). Form submissions are delivered via Vercel serverless functions. All connections are encrypted via TLS. We retain contact form data only as long as necessary to fulfil its stated purpose.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. You may also object to processing or request data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact jsmith@bureaustjames.com.

Data controller

Bureau St. James LLC is the data controller for the purposes of the GDPR and UK GDPR. For enquiries regarding data protection, contact jsmith@bureaustjames.com.
