What happens to what you send.
Bureau St. James LLC runs this site. This page says what it collects, why, and where it goes. Last updated 3 October 2026.
01 · What we collect
- The forms
- Only what you type into one of the two forms, Propose a challenge and Invite James: your name, your email address and your message.
- Cookies
- None. The site runs no analytics and no advertising or tracking scripts, and its fonts are served from this site.
- In your browser
- One volume, How we got here, remembers for the rest of your visit whether you turned its sound off. That stays in your browser.
02 · How it is used
- Your message
- It is emailed to James Andrew Smith so that he can reply. It is not added to a mailing list, and it is never sold, rented or shared for marketing.
- Your IP address
- To stop the forms being flooded, it is held in memory for up to an hour. It is not saved with your message.
- Who handles it
- Vercel hosts the site and, like any web host, handles your IP address to serve the pages. Resend delivers form messages to our mailbox, which is hosted by Google Workspace.
03 · Your rights
- How long
- A message is kept only as long as it is needed to answer you, or for the conversation it starts.
- What you can ask
- Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, object to how it is used, or take a copy. Write to jsmith@bureaustjames.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the ICO in the UK or the authority where you live.
- Who is responsible
- Bureau St. James LLC is the controller of the data described here. If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
